Ripple’s Latest PR Stunt: Locking 400 Million XRP So We Don’t All Notice the Red Flags

Ripple’s XRP Escrow Stunt: The Red Flags No One Talks About

Not financial advice, just a reality check from LearnBitcoin.net

Well folks, it seems our old pals at Ripple are at it again—this time making headlines with their bold “market stabilization” play. On July 2, 2025, Ripple “generously” locked 400 million XRP (around $869 million) back into escrow, because, you know, controlling your own supply is the epitome of decentralization.

Look, at LearnBitcoin we don’t support XRP. At all. Zero. Zilch. Nada. And here’s why:

First of all, let’s talk about transparency. Ripple’s blockchain is missing the first 32,500 blocks. Gone. Poof. Like your money if you trust them. No one knows exactly what was happening back then—and they don’t seem keen on telling you either.

Second, Ripple controls the flow of their blockchain like a corporate puppeteer. Centralized AF. They can—and routinely do—run stunts like this 400 million lock-up. They’re the central bank of XRP, and apparently, they’re proud of it.

Third, let’s not forget their so-called “flagship” product, the XRPL ledger, launched with a jSON file exploit. Yes, their big selling point for institutional adoption had a bug you could basically trip over blindfolded. But hey, trust the experts, right?

Fourth, they’ve practically abandoned XRP by releasing RLUSD, their shiny new stablecoin. Nothing says “our token is obsolete” quite like launching a new one to replace it. But sure, let’s all pretend XRP is still the future of payments.

Fifth, they’ve even been making bids to buy Circle and its USDC stablecoin. That’s right—while XRP languishes like a forgotten MySpace page, they’re eyeing their competitor’s turf like an opportunistic vampire.

Sixth, here’s the real kicker: as new blockchains start adding their liquidity to the XRPL ledger, you know what no one is adding? XRP. Or RLUSD. Their own house won’t even hold their tokens. But please, tell me again about that “bridge currency” narrative.

And the biggest, most absurd red flag? The entire sales pitch for years has been “XRP is for cross-border payments.” Guess what? The internet knows no borders. Literally any crypto can do cross-border payments. Bitcoin does it better. Ethereum does it. Hell, Dogecoin does it for memes. XRP isn’t solving a unique problem—it’s selling you marketing hype with all the grace of a late-night infomercial.

So what’s this lock-up all about?

Ripple says locking up 400 million XRP will stabilize the market. Right. Because flooding the market every month with up to a billion XRP wasn’t working out so great. Now they’re carefully releasing and re-locking coins, all while keeping the keys to the escrow in their own hands. Nothing says stability like your own centralized piggy bank.

And let’s not even talk about their failed 300 million XRP unlock attempt. Smooth. Super confidence-inspiring.

We wholeheartedly agree with the original story

Major props to ainvest.com and their author, Coin-World for covering this dog-and-pony show. At LearnBitcoin, we applaud good reporting. We need more of it in this space. Honestly, seeing Ripple twist themselves in knots to manage the optics of their escrow strategy is chef’s kiss comedy.

A Bitcoin-First Reminder

Here at LearnBitcoin.net, we stand for open, transparent, decentralized money. Not corporate-managed, pre-mined bags with revolving doors to the regulatory lobby.

We’ll stick with Bitcoin, thanks—the hardest money humanity has ever invented. The only truly decentralized asset that doesn’t need to lock anything up to keep you from noticing it’s hyper-inflating behind the scenes.

Not Financial Advice, But a Word to the Wise:

If you’re new here:
✅ Do your homework.
✅ Don’t fall for corporate PR about “stabilization.”
✅ Look for decentralization you can verify.
✅ And please, for the love of Satoshi, don’t trust a “bridge currency” that burns itself down every few months.

Bitcoin doesn’t need a central bank. It is the alternative to central banks.

And that’s why Ripple—and XRP—will always be the joke that just keeps on giving.
